In chapter 15, Milner discusses what it means to become a complete teacher. I feel as though my journey through becoming a teacher has been successful. To become a complete teacher, the teacher not only has to connect to the students, but with their parents and administration. I feel like this is sometimes left out of some textbooks we read. We should keep in mind that parents and the administration play a big role in our schools. Having these relationships with the students, administration and parents can make you a better teacher. If you are aware of who each person is, then it will make your job easier if some problem were to occur. I also liked how Milner included tips for interviews. Interviews are something we are going to have to go through to get a job. I think he really wants to inform future teachers about the reality of teaching. I feel as though I have to continue to better myself to be a great teacher. There is always room for improvement and change.
I believe that a complete teacher is one who appreciates the work they do and has an open mind about everything. We have to create relationships with the people outside and inside the school. We are the educator to the student and the parents expect us to teach their students properly. I feel like I will be a complete teacher, but it will not take one day. I will have to make goals for myself and get to know my school community.
